It means a lot to us that your family always has access to Safe Water. When it comes to the importance of drinking safe water – well, if you think about it – what could be more important? The human body is comprised of mostly water. At least 60% of our bodies are water - and that number goes up to the high 70’s in children and babies. So, safe water is a pretty important element for us humans.
Our Number One Goal at Sagan – Safe Water
I’m April Muir, my husband Rick and I are co-owners of Sagan Industries. We have spent the past four plus years and several hundreds of thousands of dollars (egad!) to accomplish one simple thing… safe drinking water for you and your family. I want you to count on that – and depend on us when it comes to drinking safe water, in any situation.
Safe Water in Every Part of Your Life
When I talk about having access to safe potable water, I do mean when you are camping, hiking, backpacking, hunting, traveling the world, in case of emergency, survival and all that good stuff. We have got you totally covered on all outdoor adventures and for your survival kits. The definition of potable water, by the way, is just safe drinking water, suitable for cooking, etc.
However, the most important aspect of having a safe water source is for your everyday life. I started to realize how many sources of water we come into contact with every day. From drinking fountains, to restaurant water, to the water they brew your coffee with at Starbucks - the importance of clean potable water has become a real challenge in this world.
Is Tap Water Safe to Drink?
I have to say after researching tap water and all its “components”, I have come to this conclusion. There are too many components – and not enough safe, clean drinking water in tap water any more. Tap water does not meet safe drinking water levels and there are many reasons for that today.
Tap water unfortunately contains trace elements of pharmaceuticals (flushed drugs, etc.) lead, arsenic, industrial waste, chlorine and fluoride. Now if you use toothpaste with fluoride in it – go read the label and see what it tells you to do if you ingest more toothpaste than just for brushing. Call Poison Control. That, in itself, should be a red flag.
Several times a year areas of the U.S. will have ‘boil water’ alerts because of E.coli in the city drinking water source.
And that’s really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to toxins in tap water. It’s not good stuff. Even some bottled water still has fluoride in it. The thing that really got my cackles up was this - some bottled water is just bottled tap water. Inexcusable.
A Safe Water Source for Outdoor Adventures
If you are an outdoor lover, and I truly hope you are – cause it’s awesome out there – we've developed some pretty effective ways for you to have a safe water source if you’re out camping, backpacking, fishing, hiking, biking, you name it. If you’re a world traveler – again we’ve got you covered.
Our water filters at Sagan can filter ANY NON SALT WATER SOURCE – and make it into safe potable water. Now when I say any non-salt water source – I mean it. Rivers, lakes, streams, even the flood water running down your street if it comes to that. We are pretty stoked about that! Once it's gone through our filters, and removed all the toxins in the water - you've got safe drinking water. Ta-dah!
Our products are truly remarkable – and so we have posted all of our water test results (performed by independent water laboratories) on our website. This means these labs do not work for us and are not affiliated with us in any way. They just perform the tests on our water filters and report what they find.
How Our Family Gets Safe Drinking Water
As a wife, mom and ‘grammy’ the importance of safe drinking water is a biggy for me. I’ll give you a quick rundown on what we do in our household and on outdoor adventures to have a safe water supply on hand.
The AquaBrick™ Water Filtration System
I love my AquaBrick™ Water Filter. Love it. Love it. Love it. It sits in all its blue glory on my kitchen counter. You’d be amazed how many times you go to the tap for water without even thinking about it. I just baked a cake – it called for a cup of water. I used safe water from my AquaBrick™. This thing is not to buy in case of emergency and store in your garage! Use it every day for filling water bottles, making smoothies, boiling rice. Everything you cook with should start with a safe water source!
The AquaBrick™ Water Filter removes bacteria (such as E.coli), virus, protozoan, lead, arsenic, chlorine, fluoride, chromium and lot’s of other toxins. It uses the DuraFlo™ Filter – so check out the water test results to see what the DuraFlo™ filer removes.
Journey™ Water Filter Bottle
My Journey™ goes everywhere with me. I mean everywhere. I take it hiking, biking, etc., but I always take it in the car with me when heading out grocery shopping, to a restaurant, wherever. It’s a filter water bottle I can take anywhere in the world and fill from any airport or gas station bathroom and have safe potable drinking water. To me that’s very cool.
The Journey™ Filter removes bacteria, virus, protozoan and other toxins. Check out the test results for the Journey™ Filter.
XStream™ Straw Water Filter
If you love the outdoors, take the XStream™ Straw Filter on hikes, backpacking, fishing, etc. It is super lightweight and makes any non salt water source safe drinking water. Its straw starts at 2 feet and extends to 4 feet long, so no need to get down on your belly to drink water again.
One very cool feature of the XStream™ Straw is the pump – so you can share potable water right from your straw. Fill bottles, wash dishes, wash food and even heat water and pump a hot shower after a long day of trekking.
We keep an XStream™ in each of our cars and bug out bags. They are perfect in case of emergency and are one of the top pieces of survival gear you can own.
Well, that wraps it up for me. If you have any questions about any of our products do not hesitate to call, email or drop in. We are located in San Diego.
Remember to follow us on FaceBook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube for all the latest developments in keeping a safe water supply for your crew.
Remember - when you think of Safe Water – Think Sagan.
