The Best Emergency Water Storage Doesn’t Come in a Blue Can -
Oddly enough writing this post was on my social media calendar for today. It happens to be about emergency water storage. Pretty fitting, considering the circumstances of the recent Hurriane Harvey, and now Hurricane Irma...
Here I sit, in my home office, with running water, air conditioning, food to eat, doing a load of laundry, all my belongings around me, feeling so blessed. Cannot get the people of Texas, Florida, the Caribbean off my mind. Their suffering... unimaginable.
The footage of hundreds of thousands of people fleeing South Florida, possible fuel shortages, hundreds of people lined up outside Costco before it even opens always on my mind. These people are preparing for survival mode. The numbers in Florida alone are staggering - 14 million people under hurricane watch? It is truly heart breaking. Our prayers go out to them all. Perhaps somehow this unbelievably destructive hurricane will make a hard right turn and go back out to sea.
Long Road to Recovery
The Southern part of the United States is going to be in a state of emergency for a very long time, as are the islands in the Caribbean. Power outages are a certainty - possibly for weeks. No way to keep food or cook it. A great little camp stove, such as the Kelly Kettle would be awesome for Hurricane Survivors. The Kelly Kettle uses all natural fuel like twigs, and debris. I wish I could send them each one! We keep a kettle in our garage and in each one of our cars. These are great little survival stoves. Additionally, these areas will be in water crisis mode for a while. Not only because of the overwhelming amount of water that’s been dumped on Houston and now the south easterly states, but clean water availability is going to be a huge challenge. It’s heartbreaking to see so many people suffering, having lost everything.
Why We Can't Ignore Emergency Preparedeness
While we all want to, no one is exempt from a possible emergency situation. Hurricanes are a common threat in the South Eastern part of the US. We have earthquakes and wildfires in our neck of the woods - Southern California. Tornadoes, floods, geez, Mother Nature has so much rolled up her sleeve, and no one can beat her.
All the people of Houston were in the same state of mind a few weeks ago that I am in now; that Floridians were in last week. They were going about life-as-usual, pretty much taking for granted all the things we normally do. No clue that their lives would pretty much be wiped off the face of the earth within a matter of days. But it did happen in Houston, as well as many islands in the Caribbean and now it’s looking like unbelievable damage may be done in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
September is Emergency Preparedness Month
This is a good reminder to get our houses in order. We try to be as prepared as we can be at our house, but being prepared for an emergency is a huge task. There are so many things that could happen. Where to begin? I consider emergency preparedness to be daunting. I pretty much hate it. It’s like buying insurance. You detest to spend the time and money, but if you ever need it – you're sure glad it’s there.
So, with all that's going on, now’s a good time to start becoming prepared or add to what you have in your emergency kits. Not that we’re all going to get it done in the one month dedicated to emergency preparedness, but it’s a good time to take a few steps... best way to do it! Check out the info on getting prepared by the CDC.
Take Emergency Preparedness a Step at a Time
My husband and I try to do a little here and there, and over the past couple of years we’ve gotten fairly well prepared. Do the most important things first. We have a huge water drum in our garage, food storage, propane tanks, Kelly Kettles, and of course Sagan Life Water Filters everywhere. We even have close to a hundred empty milk cartons in our garage full of water. We can’t drink the water as it is, but we can filter it through our AquaBrick Water Filter! Yay – I love that thing.
Emergency Water Storage – Top of the list for Survival
People can survive for several days without food, but water is a different story. I consider water to be THE most important survival element to have in your emergency kits. You can only survive a few days without water.
The drinking water quality of flood waters which still inundate Houston is highly contaminated, toxic water. The only way to be able to drink that toxic water would be by using a bullet proof water filtration system such as the ones from Sagan Life.
Remember - Not All Water Filters are Created Equally
I feel like I am constantly beating a drum that no one hears - warning people to make sure the water filters they use actually do what they claim to do. The EPA does not monitor the personal water filter industry, so those filters you have which claim to filter 1,000, 10,000 or at one point a company claimed 1 million gallons of water – are not being honest about their products. They simply want to sell you water filters. Period.
Emergency Water Storage – Not Just in Blue Cans Anymore
But I digress. Today I am offering another solution to emergency storage water. If you prefer to have your emergency water storage in easy to use cases – I have a pretty awesome solution for you.
I hate to be this way – but just as I keep calling out water filter manufacturers to tell the truth – it’s incredibly important to have safe emergency drinking water. When you drink it, you want clean purified water. No bacteria floating around in there.
The Best Water Containers for Emergency Storage Water
Puravai Emergency Drinking Water is purified 100% BACTERIA FREE long term water storage for drinking water. Filtered, purified and then triple sealed using the highest standards, Puravai ensures your emergency water supply stays 100% bacteria free and ready to drink!
The POWER of Bacteria FREE!
PURAVAI is pure prepackaged storage water for emergency preparedness. When it comes to emergency storage water, even one little bacterium in the water can multiply over time and become millions of bacteria. It’s called CFUs (or Colony Forming Units of Bacteria).
Yep - I'm Calling Out Blue Can
Nine cans of Blue Can Water were tested by one of the top independent water laboratories in the USA. The results from that specific test showed that all nine cans contained some level of bacteria. The amount of bacterial organisms in the individual cans ranged from between 443,600 on the low end to 3,685,288 on the high end. That's the amount of colony forming units of bacteria found in one 12 oz can.
Six bottles of PURAVAI were tested by the same lab, the result: ZERO CFUs.
That’s a HUGE deal because that means your PURAVAI water storage is able to remain safe to drink, even decades later!!!
Canned Drinking Water vs Puravai
No other packaged emergency storage water can compare to Puravai. Aluminum cans leak over time, steel cans rust, pouched water punctures, boxed water crushes, but our thick HDPE bottles are built to last for decades.
The Toughest Emergency Water in the Storage Market!
Puravai Emergency Drinking Water containers are made of the same material as U.S. military canteens. They’re tough, super thick, super safe. They have no seams to let water out or bacteria in.
Heck – they even float. I think the Puravai research and development team did an awesome job. They thought of everything. The really created the very best emergency water storage you can buy.
Puravai Facts: Why it's the Best Emergency Storage Water
- No Seams: They use induction coils to melt a plastic seal on top of the bottle so there are absolutely no seams, and no seams means water can’t get out and bacteria can’t get in until you open the bottle, even decades later.
- Triple Sealed: Puravai bottles have 3 levels of protection, an induction seal, a click tight lid, and a shrink wrapping over the lid to make sure your water hasn’t been tampered with. They work to adhere to government and military standards as much as possible.
- High Density Bottles: Puravai bottles are super thick!!! They’re built for the unpredictability of emergency situations. You can drop, scrape, or bump them, and your water stays protected.
- It Floats: Even filled to the brim, Puravai bottles are made to float in any water. You never have to worry about floods or dropping your water off the side of a boat.
- No Rotting: Because high density HDPE is used for the bottles, you don’t have to worry about mildew and mold forming and ruining your water supply.
- Waterproof: Because Puravai bottles don’t rust, your water is protected against something as simple as broken pipes or even humidity in the air.
- Reusable: Puravai emergency drinking water containers are made of the same material as U.S. military canteens and they added a lid that can be screwed on and off. So, you can drink portions of your water and close the bottle throughout the day, as well as refill your bottle again and again if needed.
- 100% Recyclable: Puravai HDPE #2 bottles are able to be recycled completely. So, instead of overwhelming landfills, the bottles get re-purposed continuously.
- Made in the USA: Puravai Emergency Drinking Water is manufactured and water sourced in the USA! Available now! 20-year Shelf Life.
